Annual events in Jersey to help you plan your break or holiday

Whether it be food or floral, motor or markets, angling or air shows or even marathons or music, there are plenty of Jersey events to enjoy each year. Jersey may be small but its residents like to celebrate in style and the abundance of local fresh food, traditions, heritage and talent have made for an exciting and diverse programme of annual events on the island. 

Here we have listed some of the regular annual events to assist you in planning a holiday or break. However, follow the links below or take a look at our News & Events pages where we have seasonal diaries with this years dates and mention lots of the smaller and individual events taking place throughout the year.

Spring Flower Show

Hosted by The Royal Jersey Agricultural and Horticultural Society and situated at RJA and HS Royal Jersey Showground in Trinity, this Spring Flower Show offers demonstrations, competitions and workshops amidst the stunning flower displays.

Open Gardens

Some of Jersey’s most beautiful gardens reveal their splendours for an afternoon of public enjoyment from April and throughout the summer. Open 2pm – 5pm, entrance costs £3 but all proceeds are donated to Jersey Association for Youth and Friendship (Hostels for young people).

Easter Bonnet Run with Jersey Old Motor Club

Veteran, vintage and classic show parade with an Easter bonnet theme of more than one sort! Usually 10am – 11am at The Weighbridge in St Helier.

Bouley Bay Hill Climb

Bouley Bay is a well known hill climb challenge for motor sports enthusiasts with competitors racing the hairpin bends in Trinity since 1947. Several events each year are organised by The Jersey Motor Cycle and Light Car Club. Public roads close from 10am until 5.30pm whilst drivers compete for the best times and spectators watch the action.

The Jersey Weekender

A new spring event for MG car enthusiasts including a “Pride of Ownership” competition. Why not combine one of our inclusive car and accommodation packages and bring your own little treasure to show?

The Jersey Boat Show

Jersey’s 3 day boat show each May sees yachts, watercraft and Royal Navy vessels berthed in St Helier Marina. Step onboard or peruse the stalls provided by exhibitors and local artisans. Marine accessories, food and refreshments available to buy. A free event from 10am – 5pm each day.

Liberation Day

On 9th May each year Jersey has a bank holiday to celebrate its return to freedom after Occupation during World War II and to remember those who gave their lives. Events include a Liberation Day Run where vintage cars and their occupants dressed in 1940′s style parade on The Esplanade from 9.30am until 12.30pm, followed by an afternoon of entertainment in Weighbridge Place, St Helier.

Spring Walking Week

Celebrate the beauty of Jersey with a series of guided walks during May. Join The Around Island Walk, covering the entire coastline over 5 days at a cost of £25 or choose one of the free walks on offer. Details are published nearer the time or take a look at our walking pages.

Jersey Food Festival

The end of May is the traditional harvest season for the Jersey Royal Potato and the island celebrates with walks, talks and foodie events highlighting the fantastic fresh local produce available. Sample cider, attend a pop-up feast and forage for edible seafood with some of the Jersey walking guides. 

Jersey International Festival of Motoring

Veteran, vintage, classic cars and motorcycles take to the Jersey roads and hills to compete or be on display. Great for participants and spectators.

Jersey Festival of Cycling

A weekend in June dedicated to cycling on the island including the Pearl Izumi Tour series. 

Collis Crill Round Island Walk

An annual charity event for walkers who take part in a 48.1 mile route anticlockwise around the island walk.

Summer events in Jersey

Jersey in Bloom

Jersey is renown for its beautiful flowers and July is when the island is in full bloom. Visit gardens not normally open to the public and see showcase floral events such as the Jersey Rose Show.

Big Gig in the Park

The Big Gig in the Park is Jersey’s annual outdoor charity music festival in Howard Davies Park which usually takes place in July and attracts a host of current top headliners. 

Jersey Seaside Festival

Each August Havre de Pas beach in St Helier hosts a free fun day with beach games and entertainment.

Battle of Flowers and Moonlight Parade

One of the most spectacular floral carnivals in Europe takes place each year in August and attracts visitors from all over the world. Watch the stunning animated flower arrangements on floats as they compete for the carnival trophies and be entertained with music and dancing during the day parade. Be magically transformed the next evening to a moonlit night time parade followed by fireworks. A popular event when hotels book up early so its worth securing accommodation and tickets in advance!

Jersey Open Shore Angling Festival

A week long angling competition where anglers compete for a variety of categories and trophies. Records have been broken here!

Motor Sport Events

Jersey loves its motor sports and is ideal for sand racing and MotorX events which take place throughout the season.

Horse Racing

Jersey Race Club hosts a series of special events including Ladies Day and summer meetings.

Running Events

Marathons, challenges and triathlons throughout the year include the Standard Chartered Jersey marathon in October. Take a look at our running pages for more details. 

Jersey Live Music Festival

The second of Jersey’s big live outdoor music events takes place at the end of August at The Royal Jersey Showground in Trinity.

Autumn & Winter events in Jersey

International Air Display

Jersey’s annual air festival takes place over St Aubin’s Bay each September. Watch as vintage and war planes take to the sky alongside stunning air demonstrations from acrobatic air teams such as the Red Arrows. A free event.

Jersey Regatta

Showcase yachting event organised by the islands three yachting clubs. Displays, racing and events around St Aubin’s Bay.

Autumn Walking Week

Just like the spring walking week but in September and with an autumnal theme!

Branchage Festival

Film based festival in September with animations, spoken word, literary and art events as well as special screenings.

Tennerfest

An island wide food event in both Jersey and Guernsey where restaurants introduce special three course menus from £10 upwards showcasing the local fresh dishes and fantastic cuisine the islands offer. Paperclix Jersey Rally

An important event in the Jersey motor sports calendar with a 2 day and night rally through the islands lanes.

La Fais’sie d’Cidre

Jersey has an abundance of apple orchards and has a tradition of producing apple based food and drink products, one of which is cider. In the Autumn Hamptonne Country Life Museum celebrates this with a traditional cider making festival.

Black Butter Making

Another apple based product, Black Butter, is unique to Jersey. Every October islanders take part in a traditional Black Butter making event at Jersey’s National Trust Headquarters in St Mary.

Christmas in Jersey

La Fête dé Noué

The traditional festive programme of events in St Helier includes a parade, the Spirit of Christmas Market and Joyeux Noël – Le Marchi Nouormand’ (or Normandie Market.) Shop amidst the pretty Christmassy lights with a glass of mulled wine and watch the street entertainment. Plenty of Christmas present buying opportunities with artisan stalls and don’t forget goods are VAT free! 

Boxing Day Run

Jersey Old Motor Club finish the Christmas celebrations in style with a Boxing Day parade of vintage vehicles around the island.
