Staying overnight before your sea crossing?

If you have a reasonably long journey to get to your departure port, it may be wise to consider overnight accommodation near the ferry terminal. You could also consider extending your holiday and spend a little time exploring this side of the Channel.

Condor Ferries’ high speed catamaran operates from Poole and is situated in the picturesque county of Dorset, famous for sharing its Jurassic coastline with East Devon and being England’s first world heritage site. Poole harbour lays claim, along with several other harbours, to being the world’s second largest natural harbour but is probably more famed amongst locals for its bottlenose dolphins.

Condor Ferries’ traditional ferry service operates from the city of Portsmouth in Hampshire and is the only ‘Island City’ in the UK. Probably better known for naval connections, Portsmouth also has the world’s oldest dry dock, home to famous ships such as The Mary Rose, HMS Warrior and Nelson’s HMS Victory. Portsmouth is still a major Royal Navy port and dockyard today and hosts the headquarters for the Royal Marine Commandos.
