Walking – A great way to discover Jersey or Guernsey

The advantage of holidaying on an island the size of Jersey or Guernsey is that you can quickly get a feel for the culture, history and nature as well as the scenic beauty of the individual island. Walking weeks are an excellent time to visit and get to know the islands, particularly as they’ll be knowledgeable guides ready to help you discover all sorts of things.

During walking festivals, each island has a diverse range of subjects to explore. You can go on a food foraging walk in Jersey or take to the trail of the Guernsey witches who were burnt at the stake. Participating in a walk will enlighten and reveal secrets you perhaps wouldn’t have found out otherwise.

Jersey’s Walking Festivals

Led by Jersey’s accredited guides, there are a range walks which take place throughout the day and in the evening with the specific itinerary released just prior to the start of the event. Walks take place across the island and can range from informative ambles to more demanding coastal path rambles. Most walks are free with the exception of the ‘Around the Island Walk’ which takes place over 5 days and has a cost.

Guernsey’s Spring Walking Festival

Again, taking place all around Guernsey, the walks are usually graded as ‘Amble,’ ‘Medium,’ and ‘Ramble.’ Walks may have a small charge for half a day with a guide.
