Guernsey’s floral heritage

You only have to step off the boat to realise floral arrangements are a big part of Guernsey! St Peter Port has placed in various categories for RHS Britain in Bloom over the years and Guernsey’s inherent tradition of flower growing blooms throughout the year.

The island was once full of greenhouses and various ones can still be seen as you travel around the island. Tomatoes were a major export and previous to that flowers and grapes. Freesias, Lily’s and Clematis continue to thrive and win awards. An annual Nerine festival takes place each Autumn in Candie Gardens.

Herm Garden Tours

Every Tuesday from the second week in April to the start of September join Herm’s head gardener for a tour of the award winning gardens. Catch the boat from the Travel Trident Office at Weighbridge in Guernsey and head over for the 11am tour.
