Spring blooms, history, comedy and walks

Things are warming up in Guernsey with The Channel Islands Heritage Festival, a Spring Floral Festival, Spring Walking Week and the Sure Festival of Comedy all appearing in our diary of Guernsey events and festivals for spring 2015.

Celts and Romans: Treasure and Trade

28th March – 4th October

View the hoard of silver coins from Jersey, Roman artefacts from France and Guernsey’s restored Roman ship timbers. Guernsey Museum.

The Channel Islands Heritage Festival

3rd April – 11th May

Celebrating 70 years of Liberation, the Channel Islands also have a huge celtic, Roman and Victorian history. This year, a dedicated festival will explore all aspects of the Guernsey, Jersey, Alderney, Herm and Sark’s history. Take a look at out Channel Islands Heritage Festival Guide for details on events.

A series of floral events showcasing the beautiful spring blooms on the island.

An impressive line up of artists will get you laughing in the The 9th Sure Festival of Comedy.

Throughout the year Guernsey has a series of markets and food events showcasing the best local produce with specialities such as Guernsey Gâche and fresh seafood on offer:
  • Castel Parish Farmers Market opens at 9am every other Saturday throughout the year in Le Friquet Garden Centre, Castel.
  • The Farmers and Fisherman’s Market offers Fresh local produce including locally caught seafood. Open every Saturday from 9am, during the winter months the market operates from St Martin’s Parish Hall and moves to Sausmarez Manor from April.
  • Fresh Fridays Produce Market in Market Square, St Peter Port, opens from 8.30am until 2.30pm every Friday. Guernsey local produce is for sale including fresh fish, meat, vegetables, chutney, pâté, deli and cakes.
  • St Peter’s Community Market offers a selection of plants, pies, homemade jams and fresh produce every Wednesday 10-11am in the Community Hut, behind St. Peter’s Post Office.
