New ship announced for Spring 2015

With comfort and good service in mind, Condor Ferries have announced an exciting new addition to their fleet, the Condor 102 high speed ferry which will operate between the UK and The Channel Islands from Spring 2015.

The Condor 102 is a big one! The state of the art trimaran will have a crew of 30 and has the capacity to seat 880 passengers and carry up to 235 vehicles. Built in 2010, in the coming months Condor Ferries are working hard to make improvements to the ship, including a focus on passenger comfort and a great onboard experience.

Reliability is also key. It is estimated that 90% of the type of weather related cancellations which affected sailings last year will be avoided with the Condor 102. This is due to the ship being a trimaran – or ship with 3 hulls. Technically the ship has a stabilised monohull with 3 centrally located engines encased by 2 outer hulls. This makes the ship very stable and gives it an ability to cope with higher waves whilst maintaining passenger comfort.

Based in Poole, the Condor 102 also represents a £50m investment in the Islands and a dedication to providing the best service. And the name? Undecided as yet – watch this space for details!
